People I have a confession. When it comes to the height- I have it pretty good! I have never really thought much about how tall I am. I just goggled "average height of American Women" and a few sites agreed on 5'4". I'm not saying that is scientific or anything, but that means I fall under the tall category. I'd totally agree with that. Although growing up I didn't feel tall. My mom, dad, younger sister- all taller than me. Most of my friends were my height or taller (with a few exceptions) But I always felt "normal height," When I got to college I finally discovered I was tall. These people around me were short y'all! Throw me in a pair of heels and dang, I was like the jolly green giant. But here's the great thing- I'm pretty sure life was made for those of us around the 5'6"-5'7" height. I never have to hem my pants- there are very few things that I need a step stool for, Clothes fit me proportionally, I can see over the steering wheel, I don't have to duck under doorways- Gosh it's just great. It wasn't until I lived with a rather short roomie and started dating a very tall guy that I realized all the differences that succumb with being short or tall. Try finding a seat on a plane that a 6'8" dude fits in. Not happening. PTL for the emergency row- it gives him like an extra 2 inches- still a tight squeeze! I was completely dumbfounded when I found out some of my friends have to hem every pair of pants they buy.... What?! I've never once had to duck under the ceiling to walk into a room - and the only time I can't see the stage at a concert is when I'm behind a super tall person. Sorry people at church who sit behind me and Mr. 6'8."
So short and tall people of the world. Congrats on overcoming all these additional obstacles that I never have to think about. You deserve a gold star! or a cookie or something :) 5'6" people of the world UNITE! We've got it good y'all!
